Captioned "Re: Radio Announcement on Irregular Absence from Duty of JULIUS CHE TITA", the document dated July 3, 2019 draws the Vice Chancellor’s attention to the "effective and continuous presence at the University of Buea since August 2017 till date" of Che Tita, "despite the mistaken and misrepresentative announcement read several times over Radio Buea from Friday 29th June and extensively shared over social media."
Indeed, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Ngomo Horace Manga had on June 28, 2019 signed a radio announcement informing three academic staff of the university to resume work or be considered to have abandoned duty.
In a bid to prove his regular presence, Che Tita details his academic activities from August 2017 till date in a document addressed to the Vice Chancellor of UB and copied to Wanki Law Firm, Limbe.
He ends his letter by stating: "I will like the Vice Chancellor to know that I will be 50 years old on Saturday 6th July and within this time, I have spent 26 of the 50 teaching at the University of Buea, I have done the best I can to teach my students assiduously and I have proof of going beyond the call of duty to inspire the students in my care.
"With the wealth of evidence I have referred to (all in the keeping at the Academic Office, UB) I believe strongly that this announcement absolutely disrespects my person and puts my name to shame.
"I will like to confirm to the Vice Chancellor that this announcement has brought much embarrassment and displeasure unto me, my family, my friends, my associates, my mentors and my mentees."
Dr. Julius Che Tita is former Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, JMC, at the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of the University of Buea where he currently lectures and is Associate Professor.
