The lone female Mayor in Fako, and the third in the region, was unanimously elected Thursday, June 25, 2020, during an elective session chaired by Emmanuel Engamba Ledoux, Fako Senior Divisional Officer.
Mbwaye Eposi Florence replaces Ro-Danny Mbua Mokako who died in Douala in the wee hours of Saturday, April 25, 2020 and was buried in a fashion akin to COVID-19 fatalities.
The new Limbe I Mayor is a Grade I Home Economics teacher by profession, described as de-facto leader of the “Ro-Danny camp”. Pundits say she was elected unopposed given that she enjoys good support from her peers, is considered a rising star in Fako I politics and has the backing of top female party big guns, who are fanning for gender balance within the party.
She is currently Vice-President of the Women’s Wing of the Fako IA Section of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party.
Mbwaye Eposi Florence is described as “serviceable, straight-forward and likable person who is competent enough to deliver the needed goods at the Council”.
The SUN reports that Mbwaye Eposi is a native of Buea. She however resides in Bonadikombo Mile 4, Limbe I municipality where she was elected councillor.
The only other woman who has been Mayor in Limbe was Catherine Eposi Meboka.
Mayor Mbwaye Eposi will be assisted by Henry Mokova Sona Motomby as First deputy mayor and Martha Beatrice Lauret Epse Ndongo as Second Deputy Mayor.
